It'll be fixed "as soon as possible". Or at least, that was the plan three weeks ago...

Still the case, but unfortunately it is not a simple fix.

In the mean time you can search the site using google by putting sitetongue outistonheads.com/gassing into google in front of whatever you want to search for.

That's not as efficient as you seem to suggest it is.

For example, I searched for a word which was in a thread title. Google only found it in the 'new threads since yesterday' (or whatever it's called) section. Of course, by the time you go to that section the thread in question is no longer a 'new one since yesterday' because it's several days old. So it' not there and you're no nearer finding it.

I don't think Google keeps up quite as officiously as you might think.

The search is up to date again now, so should be a bit better. Hopefully it will be permanently fixed next week.

Just clicked it:

"The search facility is currently under maintenance.

PH would like to apologise for any inconvenience this causes"

Will,

It's been over 24 hours now.

Is it still re-indexing (or whatever it is it's doing)?

And have been all weekend.

Seems to be back working now, but still hasn't indexed anything since the end of September.

It has done the Pie and Piston Forum but not any of the others so I am looking at why that is now (trying to open a 400MB text file with the answer in!)

Data sorted out in the Search database so it now has all data as of last night. It will run properly tonight and re-index so it is faster, so hopefully it is back to how it was before.

We have in the schedule for late November to have a rejig of the whole of the searching across the forums and hopefully introduce some of the ideas mentioned here (Topic searches, better ordering, correct dates of last update etc.)
