I came back from a trip and I saw 180mph on the clock with much more potentials but unfortunately the roads in Cyprus are short and i think i will never manage to see the top speed of this beast. Tell me yours (honest)!!

Only had about 160 out of mine. Plenty in reserve but the bonnet pins can't handle any more. I seem to get a lot of lift, maybe it's the missing chin spoiler thing causing air to enter the engine bay from underneath scratchchin

Mines not a 4.5..but i have seen 200mph and my speedo does seem smack on with my sat nav. I have had to repair both bonnet catches and bond the bonnet back onto its frame!

Still haven't bettered my 191 (GPS), which I've done twice now. I will crack the 2-ton one day...

At Elvington a couple of years ago, I saw C3BER do 171, and TooTallPaul hit 186. Both speeds were verified by the timing equipment up there, and both obtained by a standing start, 1 mile run up, then timed over 1/4 mile.

My Chim only managed 149. paperbag
186 in a mile and a quarter is seriously impressive. How long a run up do they get at the PH Vmax events?

Think that was TooTallPauls 5 ltr car. So pretty torquey.
Think he sold it on ebay for 9K a year ago.

161 with plenty to go on that "straight bit of derestricted road" on way home from Spa / Ring; just need more road / less traffic!!

And the chin spoiler definitely helps reduce bonnet lift; my pins gave up at much lower speeds before I got the spoiler back on. Now there's very little lift, at least to 160 wink

Interesting. It's been said before that that little deflector makes a difference, it's obviously there for a reason. I did 155 or so on the autobahn on the Spa trip and that broke the driver's side bonnet rod and bent the nearside one to about 30 degrees.

My deflector got torn off when the car was pulled onto a flatbed rolleyes so I think I'll look at replacing it. Anyone know where to get one?

(For those that don't know, this is the angled metal bracket attached to the underside of the car at the front, held on with half a dozen self tappers).

Mine got tore off going into a field for a car show a while back. Using the old one as a pattern I made a few up from thin gauge stainless steel. Drop me an email, I'm sure we can work something out.
