Enjoy Holidays in Thailand?

Well I used to, £1 used to get around 72 baht - it's now worth around 50 baht.
Unfortunately I've also moved to Australia, $1 used to be 32 baht, it's now worth 21 baht.
This means a significant difference in the cost of a holiday which really sucks.
So why do our 1st world currencies devalue so quickly against some of these developing nations?
