Ordered a New VW Scorrocco from my local Dealer three months ago.

Trading in a Golf Mk4 told trade in value would be £4,500 OK they have to make some profit.

New car is now available so took the Golf down to show that the car was in the same condition as seen before.

He now tells me that it is only worth £3,000 a 33% drop.

Talk about held by the Short an Curleys, they have my deposit, the Scorroco is the spec I want.
They say the bottom has fullen out of the market, funny they still want the same list price for the new car!!

If I had been you I would have had the agreed trade-in price in writing. Depends how much you want the Scirocco, you can still walk away and demand your deposit back.

shout LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY

Tell them in no uncertain terms that you expect the deal to be honoured at £4,500 as agreed, otherwise you will tell them to poke their new car, and sue them for your deposit back.

It's tough luck for them. I don't see them dropping the price of their car because the "bottom has fallen out of the market".

They KNEW when you were getting the new car (i.e. the trade in was to be done when the new car arrived) and they did the deal on the basis of that.

Cheeky c ts. If they don't cave, mail me and I will deal with them for you.

Stealers.

Most dealers will give you a trade in value based upon when the car will arrive.

For example we in August were looking at trading our 197 for a new Civic Type S.

The dealer gave me a bid for September, a bid for October (the same as September so long as we serviced it) and a bid for December.

The man with the purple beetle is right (again).

Thank you.

Seriously, to the OP, they are bumraping you here. DO NOT STAND FOR IT. It's not your problem that prices have dropped. They DID A DEAL.

Ring the salesman and say either he honours the deal he did, or he'll be explaining to his boss why he's got a cancelled order and a writ.

Maybe he has done me a good turn.

Will get off my bam, give the car a good clean and sell it privately
looks as if I could get high fives as a private seller.

I agree with your postings to tell them to tick it where the sun don't shine but having had two early Scorrocco's one of them a Storm ( in fact one of my sons has two Storms now ) I have beed looking forward to this since I heard about it some years ago

What is it exactly you have to p/ex Norman?

Not something I deal with myself but we take a lot as P/exs and I'd be happy to offer a second opinion on the valuation.

For some time now I have always got a price from Drive the Deal and taken a copy to my local dealership, at the end of the day they will supply d-t-d. it almost works like a brokerage. I've just looked up:- http://www.drivethedeal.com/buy-a-new-car/volkswag...

price came out £21378.86 with no extras 2.0 ltr TSI GT 3Dr DSG discount of £814.63. I'd print it out and the stick it up the salesman's nose. You entered into a contract and they accepted by taking your deposite. I would have thought you have a case for breech of contract.

If you've an order form stating the PX price then there's no way they can back out of it, simple as really!

Unfortuneatly the wife took the car in for them to inspect and price.

Price was verble, they said incase we bananered it.

I'm not too worried, should end up better off selling private anyway.

Also I am quite well known in the area.
I have lots of means to help give them a bad name so they will be the looser at the end of the day.

Collecting the car today, so if anyone is in Guildford and wants to join in.

I'll be in my XKR, the one with the big Leaper on the side, so you will know if I'm there.
