Nikon D700/D3; image total

Hi,

Is their a way to tell how many images have been taken on a D700/D3, despite whether the camera has been reset?

There wasn't on my D2X and my D3 I am still learning but I doubt it though. Mind you, I've never worried since in 25 years of Nikons the only problem I've had is film jamming and latterly dust bunnies, never a technical problem and that with over 60,000 photos with the D2X.

I've just read the D3 manual on 'reset' and it doesn't say anywhere that it sets the 'actuations' back to zero.

Are you sure that's the case?
