Help with Oil Pressure / Switch

Had the oil pressure switch replaced.

EFI fault 'J' now showing (oil pressure sensor open circuit). Oil pressure light NOT coming on though, just the EFI fault.

Plenty of oil in, and seems to be circulating ok, as plenty oil showing on the dip stick.

Hooked up to diagnostics but nothing showing, but I can't clear the fault.

Any thoughts welcome.

BB - don't know if you got this sorted yet but J fault code is oil pressure sender open circuit. I'm assuming you had the sender replaced with the newer, 2-wire version? Depending on where the 2nd tab was earthed to, you might have a dodgy connection. Next time you have the bonnet off, find the sender (mounted somewhere in the engine bay panel-work on the off-side, around the area where the airbox/alternator is) and check where the earth point used is. Check the connection and, if necessary, move to one of the studs on the chassis.

If that's not your problem then you might have to look at the wiring back to the ECU. Are you getting "normal" readings on the Pod and/or software?

Correct, I have had the oil pressure switch changed. And the EFI fault 'J' was present when I picked the car up.
Not sure if the sender is the one or two wire version, as it was delivered straight to the garage and they fitted it. I guess it must be the new 2 wire one.
The pod is displaying the EFI fault only, but on the rare occasions it flashes off and back on, it looks as if the oil pressure is showing a false reading..far too high.
All the rest of the diangnostic readings are ok.
I will talk to the garage about your suggestion, and take things from there.

Sounds about right BB, a loose earth will give a 99psi reading (I think...) - talk to the garage, they'll sort it for you no doubt,

Sounds bang on Andy....the reading is 99psi!
