Does this many weights on an alloy mean its slightly buckled?

Thanks

Not sure, but I have wondered the same thing. I've got 4 spiders not currently on a car and they all have completely different balancing. I have just been assuming that quality control is a little dubious on spiders. That does look like quite a few weights there - I have around half that amount on the most-weighted wheel.

I'm sure a wheel expert will be along shortly to confirm...

Are you being serious, or kidding Brum? Just need to know if this wheel is likely to be duff or not.
Cheers

You should be able to see a buckle if the wheel has one.

Usually look like a flat spot or slight swelling.

Saying that, saw a Tuscan with a buckle in it and the wheel looked nearly square!!

No, it doesn't mean that the wheel is buckled.

Due to environmental legislation the balancing weights are now made of aluminium rather than lead, so you need far more of them to give the same mass.

Also depends on where the heavy spot on the tyre is, if it combined with the heavy spot on wheel you will need quite a few weights. The ideal solution would be to have the tyre heavy spot opposite the wheel heavy spot.

They make tyres with a heavy spot? confused What's that for then? hehe

That wheel is obviously lighter on the opposite side to the weights, there's a hole in it......... where the valve is.

Tyres will never be made perfectly balanced, but only slight variations between them. A couple of grams extra in one place will make a difference at high speeds.
