Hello All

I am a Porsche 964 C4 driver but am v interested in moving to a Cerbie

Had my 1st drive today of a Cerbie. Tried both a 4.5 and a Speed 6. Loved the feel of the car, especially the torque. What did surprise me is that the car did not "feel" that much quicker than my Porker (I only have 280HP) but looking at the speedo revealed this was not the case. Feeling of speed seems to be a bit "masked"!!

The Speed 6 I am looking at is £12,500K and had £4000 rebuild 2 years ago. SOld by a main dealer with 12 month warranty. only thing that worries me is low oil pressure - 5psi at idle and 25psi at ful chat Is this normal??

Cheers

My mates tuscan (SP6 engine) shows same values on his oil pressure, as i understand, this is normal for the sp6 engine. Ask on the speed 6 forum to confirm

Seems a bit low to me even for a speed six. I get about 55 on mine when cold and that falls to about 10 on idle and upto 45 when warm.

Not really up on S6 pressure, but to answer the other point about them masking speed... it is true they do this, you don't get the shove in the back you can get in big low end torquey cars or even powerful diesels, the power is all up high and the more you rev it you just get nice linear thrust all the way to the top of the rev range, building to an epic crescendo if you like - you do need to ring it's neck a bit to properly appreciate what they can do.

Cerberas don't 'feel' fast until you're into 3 figures when I had mine I constantly found I was driving on the motorway thinking 'why is everyone going so slow?' only to check my speedo and find I was travelling considerably quicker than I thought I was...

this is what makeas them a great GT but for my preference the RV8 cars are more fun

which is one of reasons I swopped to a griff

I'll probably come back to the cerby fold tho' wink

A great car

I know the idle pressure can be low on a six (you're not pumping much oil at that engine speed) but I'd be concerned with only 25psi when giving it the berries. I'm not sure if the S6 has the same pressure relief valve as the AJP, but I would get that checked if it were mine. I thought 40psi or so was more common as a working pressure for the 6.

My Cerb SP6 has 60-65 psi on idle (950 rpm) when cold and goes down to just below 20 psi when the oil is warm. At 2800 rpm I get 55 psi when the engine and oil have warmed up. Water temp 80 C and oil temp 85-90 C.

I have changed to a bigger oil filter on the engine which made a increase in oil pressure with about 5-7 psi. At the moment I use a 10-60W oil from Castrol.
It seems as I have rather high oil pressure in my SP6 since the camcover with extra oil feeds decreased the pressure with 5 psi.

The engine is rebuilt by the factory late 2005 and have covered 7k since then.
