Today's the last day of Eurosport coverage of MotoGP and ending the best commentary team of any motorsport coverage: Toby Moody, Julian Ryder and Randy Mamola.
Terrible decision by MotoGP - makes no sense at all. Eurosport give MotoGP 10-12hrs coverage per race weekend - that's not going to happen on the beeb.
I don't think there's been any further developments ?

No doubt it will now be as dreary as BBC2s present laborious attempt at showing the MotoGP. Commentators at this sort of thing can make or break it for the viewer, Dave Duffield and the Tour de France, Moody Ryder and Mamola at MotoGP, British Superbikes with Jamie Whitham and Niall McKenzie/that other bloke who gets stuff wrong but is a great commentator. What do the BBC offer, an ex-rower who knows nothing about bikes or racing or some bimbo with similar knowledge. Eye candy is one thing but well informed, humorous babble is what is required. Just like WRC viewing figures will plumet. These decisions must have been completely financial as the enjoyment of the viewer hasn't been taken into consideration. At least we will be rid of the ginger tosser on BSB so it's not a total loss. Hopefully we shall see MM and R on some other channel as a team in the future. They surely are the best. Disappointed, Mansfield. 
Don't forget the additionally insightful and fascinating contribution Neil Spalding adds as well.
The beeb will never match it as the Eurosport team are part of the pitlane, they are friends with teams and the individuals from being there so long.
It is a sad day for bike fans. There are some good bits to the beeb commentary, particularly the post race int's with many of the british lads. But Parrish and particularly Cox are not a match for Moody and Ryder. Cox is in fact utterly useless.

I started watching GP in 1998 when it was just Toby and Dennis Noyes commentating, and back then I thought the commentary and coverage was equally as good as the racing. Before I started watching Grand Prix, I watched WSB with Keith Heuwen and Julian Ryder and - again - the commentary was half the entertainment. Then WSB went to the beeb, and I lost interest. Crap commentary. Crappier coverage.
I suspect that will happen again. Unless, of course, Moody, Ryder, Mamola, and Spalding migrate to the BBC. Which I doubt.
And will the coverage include all classes including 125cc (where Bradley Smith has a shot at the championship next year with a top team)? I doubt that as well.
I also doubt there will be the insider knowledge that the Eurosport team impart during the commentary as well.
So, all in all, a fking shocking decision and I for one are really going to miss them

Fixed costs - Salaries for the three of them, Travel costs, small production crew, press pass and media access to all areas, T1 broadband connection and internet radio broadcast equipment.
Beg, borrow and steal some advertisers and hey presto - BBC pictures, Moody & Co Sound....
It would never work sadly, but what would work would be DORNA employing them for a world-wide web feed, sound and audio.

I imagine you should be able to watch it via the red button next year, but it won't be the same as a full feature like Eurosport show for the 125's and 250's. Unfortunately, I imagine that showing the three races as main races in their own right is just something that the BBC will be unable to do, and I think that has been lost along with a great commentary team. Such a shame 
.Things could still change, on October 1st Dorna signed a deal for Eurosport France to broadcast all the practice sessions and all races live in France only though.

I've never seen the Eurosport coverage but I believe the short, focused coverage of a terrestrial channel is better at drawing in new fans.Drifting OT for a moment, is it just me or does anyone else think Cox and Parrish don't really seem to like each other? The bits of chummy, mickey taking banter between them seem to have somewhat barbed undertones, hinting that they might not get along terribly well.

BBC have covered 125s and 250's this year, via the red buttonIndeed the commentary is better than Moto GP, though I'm not sure who the commentators are

They aren't very good, if you haven't heard Noyes & Moody, or Moody & Ryder then you don't know how much better they are.
I thought Noyes & Moody were fantastic; much like Heuwen & Ryder on Sky when doing WSB. The Czech GP at Brno in 1999 where Okada beat Doohan on the last lap, after starting the final lap about 2 secs behind Doohan was just commentary greatness from Noyes and Moody.
Unlike the first year BBC started covering WSB, and they had that numpty Leigh Diffey; every time Neil Hodgson took one tenth out of the leader it was, "HERE COMES HODGSON".
Oh dear.
