Well, seeing as the crap is already out in the supermarkets (wrapping paper, crackers, baubles etc), I think its fair enough to moan about it and what is, possibly, the worst time of they year. What a corporate crok it has turned into, people would be much better off if they stopped wasting their money on the cheap crap especially brought in for Crimbo and the 'sales'!

I say 'sales' because when I was a sprog I worked in a big high street jewellers, I can remember replacing the original tickes on the stock which said '£29.99', for a ticket which said 'Was £39.99, now £29.99'. Thats the Christmas spirit. The in-laws actually started asking what we wanted for Christmas in August!

Well, this year im giving up on the hours of sitting in traffic to get to the folks who are now spread the length and breadth of the country. And, I wont have to worry about whether or not they actually like their pressies, beacuse I wont see them. Hoorah.

Im going climbing in the Andes from the middle of December till the middle of January. There wont be a santa in sight, but I should see some snow. What plans does anyone else have?

PS. Humbug.

Same here, bailing out early december for a break in France.
Bought my xmas presents months ago (new engine for me, and white knuckle entertainment for passengers)

If you look at retail in general, you will see most of its a crock anyway. Best to buy only what you "need", not what you "want"..
I know I need 600+ BHP smile

Amazing, looks like somewhere on the Italian Riviera.

Surely not! Back then Santa was still alive, Roger Moore was still tussling with Chew Me and Dr Goodhead, you were grateful for a lump of coal and an orange in your stocking and sometimes it actually snowed.

I spent 3 or 4 consecutive Christmases away out of the country skiing and they were amongst the best "festive" seasons I've ever had. Circumstances preclude that at the moment but I'd love to get back to doing that again. It is SOOOOOO much better than sitting around in enforced jollity watching crap TV.

I really despise Christmas and the sense of obligation it brings. I don't WANT anything from other people, nor do I wish to give them stuff.

I think Christmas UK will be a muted affair this year as people have to tighten their belts in the current climate. My Mum asked me whether I'd made plans for Christmas yet, and wasn't impressed when I said I'd love to just sit at home and watch porn for a week without interruption.

I won't be seeing Santa this year as he doesn't visit the Heathens in Baghdad

I will be hearing church bells though, as I control the Tannoy system on my compound.... I've also just got a new amplifier..... Baghdad will rock to the peels of bells come Xmas morn..... Pay back for the 5 times a day call to prayer.
