seems to be as drive on for about 20 minutes, a little while after when the heating system is on, you get a burning smell coming inside the car. sometimes it smells like clutch, but its not being driven hard. the car is a 2004 golf 1.4fsi.

Might it be an oil leak on the engine? I had a bit of an accident in July with the engine oil and as a consequence I still get the smell of oil coming through the vents. It isn't a clutch smell though, but I can't think of anything else that it might be other than the heater motor burning out.

well when i gave it in for a service, the oil seemed to have been spilt around the engine cover a bit, he tried to clean it up. im probably just being paranoid.

I always get twitchy when I smell an odd smell from the car. Sounds like it is the oil then smile

Yes, this is a feature when it is dark outside. They are called Coming Home / Leaving Home lights. If you have Highline computer you can vary the time they remain on.

I wish I had a £1 for everytime someone says to me "you've left your lights on"
