The Cat D one looks/feels odd to me.

A 1993 500 on a Pre-Serp engine is that possible or just incredibly early?
I thought that they suspended production until 1994 for the UK market?

So when was the gap in production and when did the Serp come on line?

I guess it was all around that time then?

To be honest, it's irrelavent up to a point. If production ceased, it doesn't mean a car couldn't have been registered new in that year. It may have been in a dealers stock for some time before somebody purchased it.

There certainly are pre-serp Griff 500s about, although they are not common.

Phil Phedonos is a top chap and I'd be happy to but a car from him. I found he goes to enormous lengths to make sure a car is as good as it can be before offering it for sale.

Dec 92 was the end of manufacture (ie cats became mandatory jan 03)
cars of course may have been registered in 93.

griff supposedly to be replaced with ajp 8 version...

lack of progress, and huge demand saw griff 500's later on in 93, all pre serp. so probably an early one nothing to be suspicious of.

TVR also seem to have found and exploited a small hole in the space-time continuum, since I have seen cars that were built in 1993 (cat era) but registered in 1992 hence dodging cats. Maybe the chassis was registered in 1992, but took a while to emerge as a car?

Mine has the rover box but i am sure i have heard of one or two with a T5 box . Mine is a Pre Serp not a Pre cat mind you i wish it was a Pre cat ,I think there may have been a few 500s made without cats for the channel isles but that maybe untrue its all very confusing. confused

Oh yea I agree, I was just wondering when the Serp was phased in and when the gap in production was.

yes

Mine was registered on 23/12/92 to Station Hill garage using a Factory plate. Was actually delivered to them 11/02/93 and sold to it's first "real" owner on the 17th of that month on a standard K plate, the factory plate being retained.
