Following threads about being fined and cars impounded it might be an idea to read this article from yesterday's Telegraph. No more excuses then.

Both time when I went to Le Mans this year was at night. Didn't see any police!
Coming back was in the day, just have to be vigilant. A convoy of us were making very good progress at the last section of Peage leading to Calais, but we slowed for the last couple of minutes, cruised past the police speed trap just on the limit , then sat back and watched a Ferrari blindly flash by and get busted. (Didn't he see us waving him down?)

As someone else said, we know where we stand. Just dont do waht everyone else does and you'll be fine.

I think its fair enough them being able to do this to foreigners and we should do it to foreigners here. If you drive over there, you can speed but you will have to pay the price and so long as you are careful you should be fine.

They will probably allow you a little over the limit and not throw the book at you so long as you are not dangerous based on my experience.

You have to say 'Fair play to them'. I wouldn't drive at 50mph over the speed limit on a British motorway so why do it on a french one, especially the Le Mans week. It must be like shooting fish in a barrel for them.

Could not agree more. Book a later Ferry or leave earlier!!
Respect is the key word over there!

A friend of mine failed to stop when he was speeding and flagged down!
They chased him and were VERY unhappy, but he managed to sweet talk the officer and with a lot of French "sorry" etc he only got the fine not the handcuffs!
Probably because he had the wife and kids in the back.
It was one of those areas where the limit drops to 90kph and he kept going at 110. Well South of Le Mans just before Poitiers!
