EDIS/ COIL PACKS
Discussion
Has anyone swapped the standard Electronic Ignition System for a EDIS or a smiler system on there wedge.
If so
Did you do it yourself and is is straight forward to do.
Has it made a noticeable improvement.
I have a flapper/ Lucas DLM8 distributor
When given plenty of right foot she divers well but doodling in traffic it's a bit of a pain, a Little bit kangarooing when doing 30 /40 mph and having to drop a gear to compensate.

I fitted the 1st V8 dizzyless sequential injection Emerald system to my old wedge ( still miss it a bit sniff)
It will make the car much easier to drive with improved mpg, throttle response, power and serviceability. throw the lucas stuff in the bin and fit a modern ECU and you won't look back

Got a missfire on No6, tried different leads and plugs. Injectors have been cleaned and tested Last time I checked the compressions, that cylinder was higher than the rest. Need to have a thorough investigation.
I've been trying to get to the bottom of this since March.
Everything was OK until I went to wasted spark.
Off to work for a couple of weeks, so I'll have to think what I want to do next time I'm home.

Under what conditions does the misfire appear?
Any significant difference in the state of #6 plug?
Are there any problems with the paired cylinder #1?
Have you tried swapping the HT leads between 6,8 and 1,5 and swapping the corresponding coil LT connections? That might show whether it's something to do with the HT lead characteristics and/or routing.
How far different were the CR tests? Enough to indicate a possible mechanical problem associated with that cylinder? The higher the CR the harder it is to strike a spark, so if there's something wrong with the ignition generally it may just be affecting that cylinder worst. Have you checked the actual dwell and spark quality while it's running?
Do you have the option to revert to clockwork ignition and prove that there's no underlying fault?

Yeah, it's black. All the rest are a light brown colour

Nope it's OK

Haven't tried this but it's something to look into.

Can't remember how much higher the compression on 6 was. I'll have to recheck them when I get home.
Haven't checked the spark technically but pulled various leads off when running and got a belt, it's something else to look into.
Dwell, to be honest I've left it at the default setting just now. previously I did try to reduce it untill it misfired at cruise, as per the MS manual, but couldn't actually get it to misfire in these conditions.

Yeah, the dizzy's still there and wired up, just have to check that I won't cause any damage to the MS.
