As some of you may know I have my own website and I have beens asked on occasion if I do prints. Currently I dont but it would be nice if I could provide the service if someone requested something. The question is how would you go about it? I doubt it would ever be big business as Im not great but some of my pictures may interest people.
So would you take an order from someone and then get it printed from a printing company such as photobox, bonusprint, etc for a small profit or would you just sell the original photo for a small fee and let the customer crop it change it and print it how they like?

Your opinions and any other suggestions are very welcome.

P.s. I should mention the name of my website again biggrinwww.dankemp.co.uk

I think that's the best option. Or you can upload the image, set the price and let your customer buy it directly - Photobox offer that option and the profit goes into your 'account'. It saves you having to worry about postage/packing etc as it goes straight from them to customer.

Indeed... Why don't you just set up a Photobox pro gallery - it's how I sell all of mine (it's free and you set the mark up)

That sounds like a good idea. I'd hate to set up something I had to pay for and then sell nothing, which is quite likely.

A tad off topic with some relevance, but assuming you're putting images up for Photobox or similar...

What do you do about sharpening?

After all you don't know specific output sizes. (I did a couple of 30" x 20" and believe I got the sharpening right for that size but wouldn't have been the same for A4 for example.)

Have Photobox reopened their Pro galleries now? I know they were closed for new registrations for a while.

Most of the people that buy my photos are blind, so I'm not overly concerned about relative sharpness.

If they haven't - it's imminent.
