Hi folks, next season I'm looking to run some 235 wide Dunlop slicks, according to the Dunlop the permitted rim width is 8.5" to 9.5" with 9 being the optimum. However I've seen some folks say you can squeeze them onto a 7" rim which I'm a bit dubious about.

Two questions, who does 17x9 rims (108x4 PCD)? All the leads I've tried so far have gone quiet, also has anyone tried a 235 slick on an 8in rim as this opens up my options greatly.

Regards
Iain

not 100% sure but think Speedline and Compomotive do 17x9s (escort cossie fit and PCD) in monoblock wheels or the usual suspects for split rims. might be worth trying TCS for secondhand ex Tourer wheels?
cant see a 7" being anygoodeek tyre 'crown' and contact patch would be shocking.

Thanks for the heads up, Speedline's site is crapper than crap so will give them a call, Compo only do an 8" rim, TCS however have Team Dynamics Alloys in at £550 a set. Result thumbup

Use a 9" rim, 8's just don't work right with the 235's.

ATS make the ones currently used in the WTCC. They are very light!

All that Grip - what about the Go. Have you radically upgraded the engine.

Why would I need to? Contact patches win races, big engines just massage egos.

My point is just that it will have SOooo much grip vs the avalible grunt to be flat / boring almost everywhere.

How about you stick to answering the question posed instead of conjecturing as to why I'm asking it?

Contact that wheel company Matt Neals Dad owns - can't remember the name - on the BTCC Honda's.

is 9" the widest you can go too?

std rears are 7.5 and run 245 (not ideal) but would have thought 8" would be about right for a 235.

Obviously you know more than Dunlop about their own products. I bow to your superior experience of running 235 slicks on narrow rims, or is that pure conjecture too?

Obviously wink But then I feel a car should have more grunt than grip. Slicks! with a Non tuned 4.0 Landy Lump.
