Choice for rear suspension!
Discussion
I am just after a little assistance with the choice of my rear suspension. I am currently in the process of fitting a XU engine into an Eagle kit car based, loosely, on a VW Beetle chassis. I will have to manufacture an engine cradle and will remove the original mounting horns from the Beetle chassis to fit either option.
Basically I have two choices for the rear suspension, I can use the entire Peugeot setup from the 306 and fix the steering arms so that they cannot move or I can utilise the Porsche 944 setup and fabricate some driveshaft’s to fit the Peugeot gearbox to the Porsche hub. Both have drawbacks and problems, but not insurmountable ones I hope, but I am unsure which would be better, I would rather invest time now and get it right rather than have to rethink it all later! The Peugeot setup would allow me to leave the engine in all of the original mounts and is, probably, the easier of the two but is it the right way to go?
All thoughts gratefully received,
Jon
