Any advice on destinations if possible in the carribean (looking at Barbados, St Lucia & Dominican) or anywhere else hot at beginning of Feb thats around 8-9 hrs from the UK (Gatwick etc) and hot.

We keep looking at some stunning hotels on Cyprus but have been told it's not that warm around that time.

Don't want Egypt or Morroco, just somewhere nice, warm, relaxing and with enough to stop us getting bored.
Flight time is set as we can only do 7 nights and can't lose too much time on travel.

Having never been to any of these places we're loathe to spend a fortune (not that we have that available) on something that may not be very nice - especially since it will also be our honeymoon we need to ensure it is special.

Cape Town and the garden route - 11 hour journey, granted - but it's overnight, so you don't lose out...

Feb/March is best time, and the Rand has weakened, making things even more stupidly cheap once you are there.

Thanks - hadn't thought of SA but TBH it's a little more than we have available in terms of cost.

Any other ideas? Also looked at Vegas but a little concerned about there being enough to do for 7 days.

Canary Islands, only a 4-5 hour flight only an hours time difference. Not desperately exotic but good and hot.

Theres lots to do in Las Vegas but you dont have to go far to see other stuff. Why not hire a mustang and drive out to Red Rock Canyon etc. Or there is hoover damn and the Grand Canyon is reachable by car if your really bored! Do a bit more research on t'internet - I loved it!

Just booked two weeks in Cuba for 17-31Dec and the price was very reasonable, much cheaper than other parts of the Caribbean for the time of year, wont expect too much in terms of food tho.... just in case its crap! smile

One bonus I've just found out is that no Americans are allowed into Cuba.....funny that! so it should be the caribbean with no annoying americans woohoosmile

I can recommend the Dom Rep if your looking for 'value for money'. Its usually way cheaper then the rest of the Carribean but for us it wqas better than other places because we had much lower expectations. Had a great holiday there for half what Antigua cost. Been to many places in carribean and I think best holiday was DOm Rep. not pretentious, good fun, lots of lovely beachs and plenty enough to do.

Its not posh but its probably one of the bbetter places to go at that time of the year on a budget.

Would go back tomorrow.

Mexico is good to. 10 hour flight but thats not a big issue.

horrible.

Anse Chastanet on St Lucia, Carlisle Bay on Antigua or somewhere nice (not Sandy Lane - I've been and it's too footballer-ish) on Barbados.

Otherwise, Mauritius or Maldives - both slightly further to fly, but worth it.

Hibiscus Suite at the above Hotel.

Lovely area of Barbados.

Booked it at the last minute with the Hotel direct at a rate that made the Managers eyes water!

Went there for the 1st week in December last year. One of the most relaxing weeks I've ever had.

Hired a little Jeep, explored the Island and swam in the day. Drank and ate at night.

Marvellous.

Tobago ! Fantastic place , people genuine and pleased to meet you, the island is not sophisticated , consequently not over commercialised. Rent a car explore all the beaches enjoy the local food and just chill out ! Temp around 30 deg with a cool breeze ! BA and Virgin fly direct.
