Hello all,
I've been offered a second chance on this watch on ebay, but I've suddenly had some doubts about its authenticity. Can anyone spot anything that might suggest if it is real or not?

What is the story? I've been offered a second chance on this watch on ebay, but I've suddenly had some doubts about its authenticity. Can anyone spot anything that might suggest if it is real or not?

How old is the watch?
Where and when was it sold when new? Does the watch have the original Cartier warranty.?
How much is the seller asking?
Will you have the watch inspected at a Cartier Jeweller prior to purchase?
What is the ebay selling number?

The number is 250313606184
The seller swears it's genuine, but if it isn't then a load of hassle would ensue if it turned out not to be
I've asked for photos of all the paperwork but am awaiting a response
Looking at the image of the back, it is marked 1904-2004. This denotes it as a 100th anniversary (2004) model, these were made in limited numbers.-Looking closely the markings, they look etched not engraved. The seller swears it's genuine, but if it isn't then a load of hassle would ensue if it turned out not to be

The box shown in the image is a later type and does not include the paperwork.- Why not?
The description makes no mention of any Cartier paperwork.-Why not?
The seller is in Chelsea, super!-Arrange to meet them at the Cartier Sloane St showroom to have the watch's authenticty verified.-Any refusal to do so, walk away.
If your distance precludes you from meeting in person, check the case number with Cartier UK on 020 7408 5700.
There are some very, very good copies circulating with all kinds of shaggy dog stories. Bear in mind that you can pick up Cartier boxes and unused Genuine Cartier warranties on eBay from time to time.
In summary, there are a few things that do not look right. Get the watch verified at Cartier or don't buy it.
Thanks Dominic,
I think there are too many questions raised by this watch. It's cheap if it's real, but makes for an incredibly pricey fake.
Having looked at some definitely authentic examples on the web, there seems to be a set of numbers missing from the back. I think there should be three lines of text below the '1904-2004', and this one only appears to have two lines.
Might be worth nipping to Chelsea to see, but it could be a waste of time

1. Yes, it's too cheap if real. I think there are too many questions raised by this watch. It's cheap if it's real, but makes for an incredibly pricey fake.

2.If the seller doesn't want to meet at Cartier, you have your answer. If they do, there is
a tiny chance you've got yourself a bargain.
