Similarly retro (in fact, not retro, but original) bikes are in use across European cities everywhere - particularly places like Amsterdam.

Plus, £825 seems like an awful lot of money for it.

Looks cool and I'd keep the white tyres. I'd get a Rolhoff rear hub though.

Can you explain the 206 gti bit - I don't get it?

it is a lot but it doesn;t weigh a ton like an old bike. and it's got dead cool brakes (and pin-striped wheel rims!)!

Lots of little reasons make it unstable. Bolt upright riding position, swept-back bars, very slick looking tyres.

It's up to you, but my personal opinion is it would be a laugh for a bit, but once you stopped being impressed by the looks you'd get bored of it. You're turning your back on 70 years of bike tech for looks.

A bit like yellow cars or other peoples kids, a goof laugh for a bit, but nice to give back to their rightfull owner at the end of the day.

If you're used to a mountain bike or similar, you'll find the steering on these to be horrendous. I cycled a couple when I lived in Germany and they scared me, especially when it was wet.
