Hi, i hold some HSBC American Growth accumulation shares, which i got last summer when the pound was strong against the dollar. I have just looked and the fund has lost 27% which is in keeping with the dow jones, but surley i should have made some back with the dollar strengthening??? confused

Did you pay for the shares/fund in Pounds? You're investing in a US stocks not US Dollar currency so your fund will reflect the Dow.

yes paid in pounds, But surely i will still own stock in America? so for example, i owned 1 share that say cost $2 at the time and is still worth $2 now but the exchange rate goes from £1 = $2 to what it is now £1 = $1.5 my share is worth £1.22? the only reason i got into that fund was because i thought dollar was high against the pound so was getting more for my money. Even when you win you lose.
