Gatso replaced by TrafficMaster :confused:

A420 at Fyfield, between Swindon and Oxford.

Gatso has been removed and replaced by a nice shiny blue TrafficMaster pole. Gatso dashes have been left on the road.

Is TrafficMaster to be used instead of the Gatso (perhaps a bit like SPECS)

It won't be long. I have often wondered why Traffic Master was set up. Surely not just to help drivers?

How do they recoup their investment? Phone in traffic reports? Could take a while to show a return.

You can buy TM kits - either visual ones for whole country or audible ones. Then you pay an annual rental.

Also Vauxhall fit the audible as standard so must pay some royalties...

I think the traffic master pole has been there for as long as the Gatso was - don't know where the Gatso has gone now though Not that I'm complaining... I expect they'll replace it soon though as the 50 limit along there has recently been extended

The TrafficMaster pole looks to be right where the Gatso was mounted. Addmittedly in the past I've never been looking for a TrafficMaster (eyes on camera, speedo, camera, speedo, etc ), but if it's not a new pole then I reckon the Gatso would have stood right infront of the TrafficMaster camera.

If there is any interest, I'll stop and take a piccie on my way past in the middle of next week.

Yes it did - Infact I thought when I first saw it (before I knew about the traffic master poles) that it was some sort of new digital speed camera linked to the Gatso.
