It depends on what needs doing. An oil change (an 'A' service) will not cost much: £150 at the dealer (they take a lot of oil). A 'B' service, which essentially is an inspection, will cost about £250. But if extra routine service work needs doing (eg coolant, air filter, fuel filter, cabin filter, spark plugs, brake fluid) or some parts need replacing (brake discs and pads, steering damper, front anti-roll bar bushes, cats) the could be substantially more (I have listed the common things, obviously there may be more).
You can generally obtain a discount of 15 to 25% on parts and labour at the dealer. Labout at an independent specialist may be much cheaper, depending on where you are in the country, but make sure you are getting genuine parts.
If you are thinking of buying the car, I would budget an extra £1,000 to get it sorted and to establish a new baseline in its servicing regime. As my 1999 car went through 100,000 miles it cost a fair bit to replace certain wear and tear parts.

I have a 94 SL500 and get from 18 to 23 from it.
Had it for 3 years and had three services. This year an MoT and oil service cost £75 at a friend's garage. Nothing apart from oil and filters has been needed to date, but when it wakes up next spring it will have a big service - things are starting to need attention.... !
