09-50 & no ones started this yet??

It has already been reported that the beeb are looking down the political correct route (no surprise there then.) but might I suggest Brian Blessed.

He would be able to shout the Daleks into submission.

Thought I heard a while ago that they were thinking of James Nesbitt when Tennant left because the new director of Dr Who directed Nesbitt in Jekyll.

They really could do with being brave in the casting again.

I don't think they should go so far as a female "Doctor". But someone who can do both the "Action-hero" elements and the "sci-fi-geek-genius" stuff obviously.

Maybe an American actor!

No to an American actor!

One suggestion has been Paterson Joseph (Mark's boss in Peep Show). I don't think it would tokenism to have a black Doctor if somebody like him were to take the role. I think he'd be good.

Hasn't he already been in it though?

I don't have a problem with them doing that, but I don't think they will now that they have established the doctor as having a Daughter.

Not sure, but Freema Agyeman who played Martha had already been in it as a different character, so that's not a big deal.

He would make a wonderful Doctor. But how to explain that someone so similar in appearance was The Master?

Charles Dance would be great as an older Doctor. Would he be convincing in the action scenes, though?

They are twins?......

Somthing I have always suspected from their 'relationship hints' in the past (books & shows) biggrin

The best bits of the characters of the last two doctors have been the dark bits; Ecclestone and the last dalek, Tennant and The Family of Blood, etc. I hope they cast someone who can do that well.

David Mitchell said he'd like to be the doctor, but didn't think he'd be good looking enough.
John Simm would be amazing, obviously they'd have to work in some storyline that at the end of t'other series, the Master played a nasty trick on him, to ensure that the Doctor regenerated to look like him, sort of like a final insult.

Not James Nesbitt! No no no!

And not an American either.

I don't know who I want. I wanted another David Tennant season frown

I'd like to see John Simm I think, very good actor and has the right sort of mannerisms to play The Doctor IMO.

David Morrisey is in 'the next Doctor' special.

Or how about Phillip Glenister?

'Fire up the Tardis' anyone?

He has already been in it, the last 2 episodes of season 1. He would be good though...
