Why was the Porsche Euro detailing thread removed?

The member Porscheuro posted an invite to a detailing open day at his place to give PHers something to do in the area and it was removed....any explanation as to why?

An unauthorised advert advertising what exactly Will?

An open day showing detailing at a garage of a PHer who is known and respected?

I mean for fks sake, if it was about my name being added in there, take it out and post it back up

I'm really becoming so frustrated with the inconsistant manner in which PH is moderated...I mean some people can host runs out, open days and events at their business premises and things are fine, but others cant?

For the record it was absolutely nothing to do with you or your name appearing in the adverts. It is simply a case of a poster (Porscheuro) who has repeatedly posted adverts for his business (and been repeatedly warned not to) posting several adverts for an event happening (surprise, surprise) at his business.

Had he gone through the proper channels then I'm sure things would have turned out differently and if someone else involved in the event would like to advertise the event then I suggest contacting Paul Garlick who I'm sure will sort something out.

I think the line is pretty clear but for reference, you are allowed to comment on other peoples businesses (within the name and shame policy obviously) but you are not allowed to start a topic to promote your own business or events without asking permission first.

We do allow people to mention their business where it is a genuine response to an enquiry by another PHer but if this is all they ever use the site for then it is likely that one of the mods will have a word in their ear and ask them to stop.

So he made a simple mistake and he didn't and neither do I, view his post as a blatant advert for his business!

So what if it's hosted at his business premises...where else would you have it hosted??? Local Mc Donalds car park?

You didn't even offer a sin-binning, you just outright banned him....a member of PH who has done nothing wrong, other than post up an event which, for the record, I have done in the past too, but yet I remain active

Remember the PH run out from the Globe????? That was at a business premises which belong to my friend

There's stloads of examples of the same thing which seems to have gone over the moderators heads, but I guess the difference being that the other people that have posted events, pay for cars and such to be advertised upon your holy site!

I know the refs decision is final and all that, but I still maintain that it was a bullst call and just goes to show the inconsistency of the moderating on this site these days

And before you say it, yeah, I do know it's a thankless task and I do know it can be royal pain in the arse, but I also know how to be fair to someone who is known and liked on the yorkshire forums and someone who has done nothing more than try and host an event, not even with the intention of selling anything, but just because he could

The one thing that has come as a surprise is the banning and rules which seem to be set out to favor different people.

I understand that there has been adverts in the past which he has been warned about, fair enough, that's against T&C's set out, but he wasn't advertising this time and was hosting an event.

Mr Will states "surprise surprise, it was at his place of business" well, yeah...where's he supposed to host it?

If I had a garage, I would be hosting events for like minded people...that in itself is not an offense fella.

He wasn't selling anything and while he stated that I might have prints for sale, Will also stated this was not the problem....so where does the problem lie?

If it really is against the rules to host events at your place of business, than the T&C's really should state this clearly as I know of PLENTY of events, which I shall not name, which have been held at business premises and could be seen, given the insight of the mods workings here, as advertising or attracting attention to any given business!

The banning was completely uncalled for in this instance!

If you've got nine points then you should drive very carefully, the same applies here. When it is clear that you are on your last chance you'd think it would make sense to refrain from posting anything that could be mistaken for an advert without checking it out first.

Your opinions and points have been noted and while I can't promise they will make a difference to to the outcome here, they are not being ignored.

Now I need to spend some time fixing bugs, so I suggest that we agree that this thread is going round in circles and if you or Porscheuro want to take it further then emailing Garlick directly is the best course of action

mr garlick has been mailed but as of yet no contact, i had no intention of advertising the company and like stated thought i was doing autoshine valeting a favour and letting him use our premises, my mistake clearly .. i would help anyone that needed help like jagd states i would like to think i am a good guy and offer advice where i can...and a bit of banter
