Thinking of getting a lodger, thinking a girl might be the best bet, you know for her cleaning ability wink but how will my other half react to this? maybe I should be looking for a fatty but then again do I want to share my house with a fat heffer?.

Im there for about 10 hours a week in total so wouldn't have to put up with them much.

Any advice / reccomendations?

Maybe a guy who works nights might be better.

If you want the place to be completely messy yet clean where it doesn't matter, get a girl lodger. If you want it to be tidy and clean where it matters, get a guy wink

Thats not a bad idea acturally... I might look out for a gay lodger when I buy my first house.

I've been contemplating getting a lodger. Problems I se is if you get a bloke he won't clean up after himself and fk my new bathroom over. Also might have dhead thieving mates.

Get a girl and they might be clean-ish but you might get nagged and they might have dhead boyfriend(s) again who might have dhead mates that come over and noisyt late night shagging.

I'm not sure how to find out but it'd be nice to rent the room to someone at the hospital or similar who'd only be there mon-fri. There are some brilliant people in the hospital, the best are the Ultrasound folks hehe

Just be careful where they get 'lodged'.

Lodgers can lead to all sorts of trouble. Especially when they are of 6ft tall, blonde female variety... Am still dealing with the aftermath of that one.

I have a 22 year old female graduate coming to look at a room tonight hehe (only joking Gretch, you know I only have eyes for you wink)

In all honesty though - they are all lazy fkers who will get away with cleaning & such things as little as they possibly can. Male/female: all the same.

Handy money though.

I'm not sure how many girls you have lived with in the past, but IME they are certainly not clean or tidy!

I don't think there's any hard or fast rule when it comes to lodgers.

I myself am a lodger and have been in a few houseshares now and have found that the best places to live are with people you get on with well and this doesn't necessarily have to be a guy or a girl.

I used a site called www.easyroommate.com where people advertise their rooms and you email them and arrange to meet/view house etc. That way you can meet a few people and get an idea of what they are like before making a decision.

As per LadyHayles comment - use a site like easyroommate.com, or, as I have found to be far better (and free!) spareroom.co.uk

Both the girl coming to view the room this evening, and a chap coming to look on Monday, have been sourced from there. Loads more that don't fit the bill have expressed interest as well.

I have a lodger, we have since become good friends, he’s not the tidiest person in the world and we tend to drink/eat far too much when we are both in, which isn't helping my ever increasing gut!

If you get a good one you will be happy, luckily I’ve not experienced a bad one so can't comment on that
