just bought some RFL on line and at the top of the confirmation page I saw this:

DVLA said:
Your application for a new tax disc has been successful and you have now been automatically entered into a FREE Prize Draw for one of 3 brand-new SEAT Ibiza Ecomotive cars (unless you chose not to be entered in step 1). Details of the prize winners will be provided at www.dvlaprizedraw.org
pay for your tax disk and we'll give you car??

I didn't bother entering that competition.

If you did prepare to be spammed.

Its a simple promotion to get people into taxing on-line. With the Post Office likely to lose its contract for car Tax then they want to promote the online method as its infinatly cheaper alternative.

You've helped that promotion by publisising it here.

According to the T&C on that link they say they will not use the data you give for any other purposes other than the draw.

They didnt buy them. They were donated by the manufacturer.

Well, they should sell them and knock £0.00001 off the tax for each and every one of us.

the text 'DO IT ONLINE AT WWW.DIRECT.GOV.UK/TAXDISK' written on the front page of the reminder three times should surely be enough to make people aware that they can do it online

Is this draw monthly, as it appeared when I renewed last month?

They'd be in serious trouble under the data protection act if they were false.

I've renewed the tax on both my cars in the last couple of months.

Have entered the draw both times and have had no spam.
