What vintage sports watch for circa £2k
Discussion
I think it might be time to look for another watch - perhaps for delivery around Christmas time
I had hoped to find a Rolex 5513 or a nice Pepsi GMT, but I fear the market (and $) might have got away from me slightly at the moment...
So, what vintage sports watch (steel only) would you buy for around 2k? Ideally 1977 or earlier (it makes me feel better if 'vintage' is older than me
).
I have a few Speedmasters and fancy something else this time (I think).

You made the very next post. You really didn't need to quote the picture too. Please, have a care and try to keep the threads to a sensible size.
Very nice watch indeed. That would be amongst my choices for a vintage but I would probably go for an early speedmaster instead. Should be able to manage a very nice one within budget.
ETA: Just read the end of the OP and you already have speedys. In that case I'd go with the Carrera or maybe a Monaco.

I don't think I'd be able to get a monaco for 2k - I'd want the Steve McQueen and they seem to fetch silly money. I have however seen a couple of watched online which may fit the bill - a mid 1960s speedmaster (I dont have a pre-moon yet) and a mid 1960s Navitimer.
Something really is drawing me towards a 5513 Rolex though.
I've never owned a Heuer - but do like the military 'bund' watches quite a lot. And of course the Steve McQueen Monaco.

The Heuerboy website has a very nice selection...

ETA. Although I am currently in the market for an early 70's Speedmaster, obviously doesn't help the OP as he already owns some, the lucky chap.

I like the Bunds too, heuerboy has this 70's one for about your budget. I'd ditch the NATO and either get a black NATO
. . or try the original style leather and see how you go with it.

I was going to buy one a few years ago. To me, there is also a confusion of models and many have been refurbished by sinn. Sinn seemed to make them also for a time which complicated matters a bit.
I think in the end there was enough confusion to deter me from doing anything impulsively and I didn't know enough about them, so I didn't get one.

edited to correct the case size as it's 43mm

+1 for the Heuer Bund. Either that or a Jo Siffert Autavia, but this might be out of your budget.
I don't know Heuer Boy but a good friend buys most of his stuff through him, and that's all the recommendation I would need.
