I've currently got 185/55/14 profile tyres all round on my fiesta. Fronts need changing though so can 185/60/14 profile tyres be fitted on the standard rims and would mixing profiles ie 185/60 on the front, 185/55 on the back be a safety issue?

it should be ok although i dont see why you would want to. it may put ur speedo out ever so slightly but probably not. surely those tyres are cheap anyway.

185/60h14 tyres are cheaper than 185/55h14 tyres, mixing profiles is not a problem although you will have to put the 185/60 on the back and 185/55 on the front for legal reasons.

Thanks for the replies. Reason I asked was I'm using the car for some nav scatters, a bit of autotesting with the local motor club and just general hooning back and fore to uni on nice wet and muddy welsh roads and seeing as the fronts need changing was looking at getting some decent performance tyres. Trouble was few of my local garages had suitable tyres in the profile I have at the moment.
Does anybody have any decent suggestions as already mentioned really looking for 185/55/14 profile, not too bothered about cost, road noise, fuel consumption etc just something that is going to give good performace on generally wet, greasy muddy surfaces. Been looking at goodyear hydragrips because I was struggling to find any ultra performance tyres in a small enough size.
Suppose theres not much demand for those type of tyres on a fiesta!

i assume youve tried mytyres.com ? they got me 4 toyo t1 r's for about £37 a corner a while back for my puma which has 15's however, just got them sent to a local garage from their list.

pumapeople.com seem to rate the toyos and goodyear asymetrics highly and seeing as the puma is just a mk5 fester in a posh frock Id imagine the same would apply.

Yes the toyos seem a good solution but they don't do them in the profile I currently have. Nearest is 195/55/14. Do you think that size would fit on my rims ok without affecting safety, handling, legality etc?

mytyres.co.uk (not .com oops) have good year eagle F1's gs-d2's on run out in 185 60 r14, theyre not making them anymore but my mum had them on her old mx-5 and they were awesome. They also look cool as hell.

you could always look on ebay for a set of 15 inch zetec-s alloys with tyres, bigger and better and would prob be picked up for a couple of hundred quid.
