They knew that the chances of surviving in the polar regions would be slim. The mission has already exceeded its original time limits anyway - which was 90 days. NASA always look on any time period exceeding the 90 day period as a bonus.

True; as said, they needed to land in polar regions to have the best shot at finding evidence of life near ice and water.

it is just me or does anyone else thing its a pile of st anyway.

Did they ever actually make it to the moon or was that bks as well.

Just you and the terminally hard of thinking, I think.

It'll be interesting to see if they try to wake it up in the spring. I'll bet they have a go...

You got to hand it to them though, look at the temps in the link. My van battery went a bit shonky at +3.
