Thinking of creating a V8 Z4MC
Discussion
I am thinking of having an M62 4.4 ltr V8 engine fitted into my '07 8K mile Z4MC. The fact of the matter is that I have an M62 with only test miles in my lock up and I am a died in the wool V8 man
coupled with the fact that I have recently come in to a bit of dough so I am seriously considering creating the Z that I have always wanted. I did consider the new M3 motor but part of the appeal is that I already have the M62 and with a bit of work, 420 bhp is easily achievable. I have spoken to my man Ray West of West Tuning and he is of the opinion that it is indeed possible to go this route. I am away for a week now and will mull it over but I am pretty sure that it will happen, I will keep you posted.

I have read all of the relevant comments and agree that it would be a little sacrilegious to desecrate one of the 600 or so RHD Z4MC's in existence and have decided to do the decent thing and spare her
and as from two weeks time she will be up for sale. I have already located a 3.0 ltr coupe in BLACK, my most favourite of colours
. I have decided, after my piano black idea, to get the car wet sanded and detailed and save the 2K plus. Using a lesser model as a base is not only cheaper, but means less heartache when junking the diff for an M5 one and swapping out brakes etc.
With regards to the power output, you are indeed correct, 286 bhp is the standard output but with worked heads ( and I have been assured that these can be heavily modified to produce substantial gains ) Schrick cams, throttle body injection and mappable ECU + more, 400 ish does not seem all that far off does it, still less than 100 bhp per litre alla Z4MC.

Here are a few of pics of a black 3.0litre Z4 from early last year enjoy

Have you thought about fitting a E39 M5 engine ???

I think you'll struggle to do a lot of it without spending serious cash.
This guy put an E46 M3 engine into an E46 323i and look at the amount of effort that was involved; lots of stuff unrelated to the engine had to be replaced

If you do go ahead though, good luck!
