Hamilton.. the next Schumi.. or next Henman..

Anybody else feel that if he wins this year.. could go on to win multiple Championships.. Schumi style..

Or if he blows it again, might never have the mental strength to win a Championship, and could end up the "Henman" of F1.

And although he is plenty tough, I do not feel Hamilton is unsporting, which the mighty MS definitely was, so LH will be a great champion.

If he doesn't win it this year then he'll just try again next year. Not only can I remember many drivers challenging for the championship to the final round in their first two seasons, but I seem to remember Prost falling short twice before becoming a....oooooh, four time champion.

I personally see him being one of the all time greats.. just need to get the 1st one under his belt! Think then it will be a doddle in future years..

i don't see how it's any different to a race tho, it's not like if he doesn't win one then he's not able to win the next. the championship is just a collection of races and he's not going to suddenly stop being able to win those

i'm not sure. at some level you have to believe that the FIA are not biased (despite what a lot of people, including ex-F1 drivers) have said 'appears' to be the case, otherwise the sport you love is nothing more than a staged farce.

so if we suspend our almost unanimous dislike of donelly and his decisions and consider that they might have been a bit random but not biased - call them luck calls, then massa has had his fair share of bad luck too, with things that have been beyond his control.

despite all that's happened, i still think whoever gets the wdc will have deserved it. i just hope it's lewis (now that kubi is out the running )

2. Yes but at the sporting level. Both drivers and both teams have made mistakes. But the governing body getting involved and leveling totally unprecedented and/or spurious penalties is something else altogether.
What are we going to do if Massa wins by the 2 points he got from the Bourdais fabrication?

I think you've hit the nail on the head - a reflection of today's "want everything now" society. Lewis will no doubt be around for many years to come, whether he wins tomorrow or not.

If he doesn't win tomorrow, he will still have acheived more in his first two years than any other F1 driver - but the media will slam him as a failure.

I hope he does win tomorrow, but I won't see his career as over if he doesn't.

My own tuppence is that whilst he is in a macca, he'll win a few championships. Of course, there are some external factors that might just change all that.

We've got the KERS system next season, along with narrower cars, with tyre and aerodynamic changes, etc. We won't know how this will go. Some teams have admitted to strugging (including Ferriari), whilst others appear 'ahead of the game'. Although I've not read anything from Mclaren about how they're doing.

And with potential single-engine supply from 2012, and god only knows what changes up to then - then who knows.

Sam - yeah - you're right - I meant narrower rear wing. Was only half-concentrating when posting.

He's further up the achievement ladder of F1 (at this stage) than Schuey was. He also has that same fighting spirit. I'm sure he will do many wonderful things in his carrer in F1.
