Hi

I think i have sorted a great deal out to change the final drive on my Getrag 6 speed.

Im having the trans converted to run with a LS7 ie the starter motor spun round etc and at the same time im going to change the final drive(2.88??) also while it's stripped down im going to get various internal parts upgraded. The trans will also be checked over to make sure it has been converted to run upside down!!!!! (i have my doubts many have been)

So what im asking is if anyone else would like to join me for

1 spinning the starter to make it is easier to change if needs be, also to make a future upgrade to a LS possible without having to change the trans.
2 check your trans has been converted to run upside down
3 change the final drive (R and P) to give a decent 1st and a nice cruising 6th.
4 upgrade the internals

you could do any of the above or all of them??

the R and P will be cut professionally and WILL BE GUARANTEED!!

The price will be better the more people who are interested, what i hope to do is have them all collected and returned to one place. As a guide to price... this is only a guide £1000 all in plus shipping $300ish.

So please let me know what you think??

Ask Graham P and Can-Am Dave.... and few others. The fact that they fail in porsche's doen't bode well for us High HP/Lbs guys either.... Factory sell them because..... they can't get any good old G50's anymore...
The gear change Mech is alot better I will say, but thats the same on the GT2 or GT3 boxes anyway....

Goodluck I wish you well bud...

Yes they both have the G50 mounting face. They are G96-?? transaxles but are mounted using the G50 setup. I have a G96-50 in my Can-Am which is from a 996TT. It was used only for the casing with a custom setup inside.

Me thinks they are one of the following G50 types:
GT3 = G96/90 and G96/96
GT2 = G96/88
