Back in the summer I asked a similar question, what books were people taking on holiday.

I got recommended these 4 absolute crackers:

and a bit of fiction:

I really enjoyed all 4 and have since recommended and bought copies for other people.

So what books are people enjoying at the moment? read

Just finished 'Snobs' by Julian Fellowes. Picked it up in a charity shop the other day for 50p. Enjoyed it.

I would recommend avoiding "Lewis Hamilton" or as it should be called "Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes Lewis Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes Ham Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes ilton". I gave up after the first Vodafonr Mclaren Mercedes chapter because there were lots of references to something but I'm not sure I can remember what it was. Oh yes it was Vodafone Mclaren fkING Mercedes.

Vulcan 607 - Roland White

Apache - Ed Macy

The pillars of the Earth - Ken Follett

There is another helicopter book I read "auto biography" about Lynx and Gazelles in Iraq. Will get the name but another reasonable good book.

I just finished 8 Lives Down but didn't really think much of it...Slash autobiog is decent, although could probably just be renamed '101 reasons Axel Rose is a nobber'

Anything by Ian Banks or Ian M. Banks (same guy, different genre), Terry Pratchett, or Robert Rankin gets picked up as soon as it is available in paperback. I'm almost never disappointed.

I'm also struggling through J.S. Mill's "On Liberty", though the old language and the suspicion that he's already made his point and is now waffling is making it tough going. Not sure I would recommend it.

My other one, at present, is "Growing Great Boys". Not a bad read, but you'll know when you 'need' it.

No it isn't. It's really disappointing, particularly for a book from "The Culture" series, and the end it's like he thinks "I can't be arsed with writing anymore, so I'll end it."

A great book that I read recently is The Book Thief

Yeah, don't want to ruin it for you, but you'll be thinking "WTF??" at the end.

It gets marginally better after the first few chapters, still quite hard going though; currently reading DC's book, which is ok but not a great read.
