Guys,

I've recently been looking with more and more interest at the Ferrari 355 Spider. In my opinion they are a beautiful looking car and after I heard one at full chat the other weekend, I think i'm in love.

I'd like to pick the brains of owners/enthusiasts on the boards about their usability.

I'm a great believe in the car is meant to be driven but how does the 355 Spider fair on a daily basis?

My commute to work, thankfully is all of 5 miles so I haven't got too far to go, could/should the 355 Spider cope with this?

What type of running costs per year are we looking at here?

Any pointers/advice on what to look for when buying?

I've done a couple of searches and just looking for some more information.

Thanks.

I used to own one of these. It's a fantastic car but for a 5 mile each way commute - forget it. I had no trouble with mine but I really don't think it would like so many short journeys.

Get a cheap run around for the commute and use the 355 at weekends

bad company,

You do have a good point there.

It might be worthwhile picking up a daily driver and i'm not always guaranteed a 'secure' parking space.

A nice comfy German barge might do the trick. biggrin

What I do. Have the 355 and an E36 Beemer to snot about in....

And they are HORRENDOUS on fuel around town. Truly awful. Motorway is OK.

You could easily use it daily. For a period of two months I used mine daily. No problems at all. Copes with traffic etc without issues. However, I had secure parking both ends of my journey, I would not want to leave it in a public carpark/street as it attracts too much attention.

The only other problem is that the manual to a spider says something to the effect of "roof not entirely waterproof", so would not want to use it in the winter daily!!!

A manual F355 will be a better option around town than a 355F1. Agree on the fuel costs. F355 is very good at draining a tank while sitting in traffic. Suggeast you also take a look at teh F355 buyers guide on FerrariLife.com
