how much was it advertised for? if its cheap and the chassis is sound, it may worth it as you can pick up any ford cologne engine for nothing.
When i had my S i blew the engine and bought a replacement from a tvr brakers for 280 pounds with 35k on the clock. I could have bought one off ebay for 50 quid but wanted to make sure it was ok. It took 2-3 hrs to fit and had no problems at all with it.
Only thing you should walk away from is a rotten chassis in the S the rest is secondary.
It was cheap at around £2500 with 75k on the clock. The problem for me is that I can do most mechanical things but bodywork is not a skill I have.
If the body and chassis were ok I would not have cared about the engine.
There was no area of the car that did not need work, interior, paint, body alignment, engine etc.
