1 Down, How Many Left.....
Discussion
Well there is one cerb less on the roads now
Well temoprarily anyway......f
king non slip surfaces give you a deceptive feel of the road.....here's the aftermath......any idea how much it would be to repair??? shouldnt be a write of should it, I have an agreed value of £15k on the car.

Craked the wheel, so coulddnt drive home, had to be recovered.....boy do you get some looks when a crashed cerb is on a truck.

Also Hydratrac???? could this have been part of the cause?? as i almost had recovered the slide but it had just snapped too far and too quickly to regain full control, ending up in a 180 and rear ended the central reservation, only doing 35-40mph when back end went on a very straight bend coming off a roundabout......apparently there is at least 1 car a week crashing and there is also a high probability of diesel on the road there.
Another quick question, has anyone heard of Eastern Western Accident repair centre????
Thanks for any advice or opinions which you could contribute.
ETA: I've tried a good wash and some T-Cut but to no avail, you can still see the hole.

Shouldnt be written off, repairable for about £2k, maybe 3 at a push.
Edit: Never heard of the repair centre, sounds reasonable for average cars this is not one of them, insist on a known specialist from recommendations here.
Hydratrak isnt to blame either, sounds more like road conditions/ a spill to me. Hydratrak is an ok diff, if anything its more likely to spin away any problems than cause them - its only in really extreme situations (9/10ths and beyond) that it does much anyway. Its real problem is the seemingly inconsistant way in which it locks when enough slip is occuring... Ive seen and felt this happen a few times on track and if anything its more likely to cause a bite of grip and make you throw it off the other way than anything else. (difficult to explain, but TTTim has a vid of it happening round complex at Croft?!) Oh and it'll also need you to keep applying the power, whereas I should imagine you're not actually applying much and probably lifted a little as it started to come around anyway? I am making assumptions on that, but I really doubt the diff had any real contribution to this occurring, certainly not a negative one atleast.
Hope it is repaired asap to a better than new condition.

That's a sad sight to see - I feel your pain! Had several wobbly moments getting home form Oxfordshire this morning, but luckily nothing that got that severe.
It looks like you are in for a wheel, a new rear quarter and some paint, unless you've done some damage to the exhaust or something.
I can't imagine that the costs would be too bad?
PS You're obviously using the wrong polish... ;

the repair centre is apparently a TVR specialist, don't worry if it doesn't come back in mint condition which it was when i left the house in the morning then it will be getting sent straight back to them

I came of the roundabout onto a slight curve the anti slip stuff ended and the back end slipped right....but fast to about 60 degrees, i corrected this and then the car swept back the other way right round until i was facing the traffic, not sure if the tyres bit and threw me back round or if i lifted (pretty sure i didnt as i thought id catch it). once facing traffic i was just a passenger in the ride feet nailed to the brake hopeing it wouldnt mount the centre....but it did.Hope it is repaired asap to a better than new condition.

the exhaust tip is bent and the lights and indicators have problems, not sure how easy this will be to fix...think the wiring could be a little goosed....the indicators stay on full (not flashing) when the headlights are on, when indicator is on that light flashes but the other is on permamnent and same with hazards, not sure what this could be but the light cluster is in a bad way, so could just be bad connections now.It looks like you are in for a wheel, a new rear quarter and some paint, unless you've done some damage to the exhaust or something.

What tyres are you running?
Pressures?
Is that yellow paint on your tyre off the road??
Michilin Pilot sport, not sure of pressure, didnt check before heading out, but was fine for the 180 miles previous and i was acting childish during those, was actually driving sensible when the accident happened.Pressures?

What yellow paint???? there are yellow road markings under my wheels (bus stop) and mud on the tyre but no paint on tyre.

Sorry to hear of the accident, easily repairable though, as others have said 2 or 3K.
When I had Michelin's on the rear of mine, I changed them early due to a lack of feel. The set I had span very easily, could have been a bad set, but now I am back on Toyo's much more predicable. But then, everyone prefers their on makes / brands.

Where is the Eastern Western repair centre you have been referred to. If it's the one near Edinburgh then they are VERY good - lots of the local TVR boys have had repairs and mods done there.
Their bread and butter is Mercs, BMWs, Saab, Lexus etc.
I had my TVR bonnet replaced there, and they also rebuilt the rear of the Lexus after somebody romped an Audi A4 into my luggage.

conditions, conditions, conditions.
The car wasnt at fault, nor the diff itself. Nothing written has made me think otherwise. I think the owner was probably caught out by something on the road or the temperature or whatever... I wouldnt imagine the car has actually caused anything.
The recovery driver told me that there are many cars collected from there....the two previous roundabouts were exactly the same and i done exactly the same...on this roundabout though there is a wagon depot/garage up the road and apparently there is often diesel spills on the road there....however i do feel that the anti slip surface had something to do with it also, it gave me a false impression of the levels of grip on the road....the anti slip ended on the bend so once the back wheels came off it it lost traction and the rear whipped out. I would have known earlier that there was no grip if the anti slip wasn't there. The car wasnt at fault, nor the diff itself. Nothing written has made me think otherwise. Glad no-one has posted, i must have been driving like a nob, as i wasnt. 40mph was the tops i was travelling, no more than 25 round the roundabout.

Yes, its the one near Edinburgh, thank god its a decent place, always get a bit worried about this when it comes to repairs.Their bread and butter is Mercs, BMWs, Saab, Lexus etc.

Gutted for you... had my biggest scare on Tuesday while coming onto the motorway off a slip-road, the gritters had been out and i lost the back end, she snapped back and forth 4 times before i got her back, honestly thought I was going to lose it!
It is pretty damn hair raising......i did change my undies when i got home. Also had several JD and coke within half an hour of getting to the pub that night.....calmed my nerves a bit

Car may be a write-off, consider the damage you cannot see, the garages always do up-ing the repair costs, then it could take three weeks to repair, so you claim for a hire car of similar performance or value, repair cost just shot up by another thousand or more, and if they write your car off they can sell it off as its still got a high value for a diy repaier or smaller garage.
Fairly confident that's not a write off, just a new rear quarter.
Back end steps out under acceleration on slippy surface.... Keep foot in & hope you've got space to go down the road with a bit of fish tailing...... Or come off the throttle & the car snaps violently left, right, left whilst you stamp on the brakes & pray for no solids
I've done both over the years

Sorry to hear of your "moment".
Few cerbera owners will accuse you of driving like a nob as we've all been there at some point, hopefully avoiding anything solid!!
Even ballet shoes won't save you driving at this time of year, but better to drive it than leave it in the garage.
I hope you get it sorted pronto.
Cheers

Suprised no one else has mentioned this before now but i'm afraid that with a lump like that out of the wheel i'd be very suprised if you've not bent something on the suspension or chassis. Sorry to be so unoptimistic about it but from experience with other cars it dosent take much to knock your toe/camber or on the front castor angle's out. Make sure they do an alignment check and i'd get one done when you get it back just to make sure its been done correctly. Fiberglass can be fixed but if your car dosent drive straight after its a bigger issue.
