Questionable Mclaren Tactics (Race Spoiler)

That was a stupid approach to the race today by Mclaren.

Why try and drive for a fifth place finish when the car is a regular front runner.

I couldn't believe what I was watching.

they would have looked very silly for finishing behind a Toyota if Glock hadnt of had such a bad last lap.

Saying that though, always play the percentage game.

Because when they overtake and try and win the FIA penalises them. Best bet was to stay out of trouble.

If it hadn't rainedmhe would have still finished ahead. They played their strategy and have now won the WDC. What's the problem?

McLaren did the perfect job.

McLaren have a history of getting pit stops wrong when the circumstances change. Despite their efforts today, Hamilton got the result he needed!

Mate, let's face it, they lucked out big time on the last corner and their strategy nearly cost Lewis the WDC. If you need to finish 5th and you drive for that, then you're not leaving much margin for error are you ? The whole thing basically back fired on them and they were incredibly lucky today.

Had they not changed tyres and had the rain fallen harder and had LH spun off and not finished you'd presumably have been cricising them?

Tom, there have been a season's worth of races and, as close as it was, Hamilton and McLaren proved a better package than Massa and Ferrari. Massa will get another chance next season.

I think they were playing the "Kimi and Fernando could get fidgity and an overtake may result in an "accident" so we'll just sit tight back here and let them tootle along in their own race" type of game.

But feck me, I nearly died when Vettel went past, soooo lucky Glock didn't have the pace once it really rained.

I did actually feel sorry for Massa though, he just seems like such a nice fellow all round, but pleased as hell for Hamilton, and Ron Dennis. It kind of seemed like Karma for the Ferrari International Assistance decisions which happened this season.

Yea over the season i am not complaining too much. There are plenty of if's and but's but its whats on the board what counts.
