Pulled away from double decker bus in Brum y/day thinking even for a bus it was noisy, only to find it was me!

Drove home quietly and when had chance to look, the down pipe has come away from the manifold on the joint with the conical bit where the three manifold pipes run into one.

The Bible talks about some sort of olive arrangement, but mine looks as though there used to be a stubb pipe on the manifold outlet below this conical bit which was sleeved into down pipe and held by normal exhaust clamp.

I think I can bodge it with tin / bandage / muflit but can't see how to take weight of pipe so doesn't break quickly - any bright ideas please? Does welding work on manifold? Anyone got a spare drivers side manifold for non cat S3?

sorry to hear that, was putting my exhaust back on the car today. the two right angle bends should push into the manifold and are held on with clamps. sounds like someone has bodged yours in the past. is it the manifold or the down pipe thats broken?
the manifold does'nt seem to take much weight as the exhaused is balanced with the middle brackets and held at the back as well. i can't see how it would drop too far at the front as the back would have to move up. hopefully its the down pipe as they are not too expensive.
cheers
