Where are we going?
Discussion
I wanted to say a few words about the topic de jour, which seems to be a battle between Chris and the membership.
When I founded the club all those years ago, I did it because I'd just built a Geep and wanted a few mates to have a laugh with. It seems it was right time, right place as the club grew and grew.
Eventually life moved on for those original members and sad to say I think I've lost touch with most of them.
The point I'm trying to make Chris, is that you don't have to beat yourself up if people don't go to shows.
I never did.
The way we used to play it and I think it's time to go back to it, was to ship a banner and a few membership forms to anyone who said they would attend a local show and represent the club.
It worked well, most of the time.
For me the JOC was two (three if you count Sandown) shows and a holiday - three events a year, which was more than enough for anyone to organise.
It seems even more important now to concentrate our efforts into fewer events. Rather than trying to spread such little resource over such a large area.
There are too many shows to attend, that's all it is.
It's time we made a stand and said official full-on club attendance with kit and kaboodle will be the main shows only.
As to members berating the committee and the committee fighting back?
Pack it in now!
I don't want to read another Transmissions like the one that came through this morning.
There was a lot of shit flung in my day and most of it went unreported, simply because the more you read the more you get the impression there's a problem.
I'd rather have irregular newsletters than one full of complaints.
I promise, I will try and write something that might be if use, for the next newsletter.
But please can the membership get off Chris' back?
I never gave that much support to the membership, I don't think it's fair to ask Chris to do it either.
It's great that he does so much, without Chris the club would have closed a long time ago.
Let's stop bickering, accept the limitations and sort ourselves out for next year.

Thank you for your words of wisdom and support Tony.
I promise I will not let it get me down if possible.
Hopefully now it has all "come out in the open" we can move on and cut out any further negative stuff like what has been published in this last issue.
As you say I think we should just put our efforts in Stoneleigh and Newark as "offical club stands" and any other shows are advertised where information is available and it is for the individual to attend if they so wish.
I am sorry if issue 111 seemed to be just a bitching session that was not my intention. I had actually rewritten my part 8 times in the hope that I could soften the blow a bit but perhaps it did not work. The letter I received from M Holland was put in as it was received as it seemed OK.
I will personnally be attending Stafford, Trentham, Capesthorne Hall and Donington (the track day)as they are shows near to me and I enjoy being there.
Of course should something else occur on those days I will not have the "guilt trip" if I don't go as I will not as such be expected.
I look forward to a more positive club scene in the months/years to come.

Sorry I don't see this as bickering, and I don't see why Chris should not say how he feels. If he doesn't we won't know will we. I don't think you can sweep problems under the carpet or by the time they are found it's too late.
I do agree about not orgainising too many shows if people don't go.
