Column of flags on screen before the race.

Anyone else noticed before each race a column of flags with positions next to them appears on the screen. What is it?

It's the finishing position of the driver at the various races throughout the season so far, represented by the national flag of the country where the race was held.

I have noticed this and really don't get it.
For sunday's race, they had AUS DNF, and CAN 8th ? (plus many more.)

Had 4 British flags and a couple of american ??

No yankee racers, No yankee grand prix ?

I might have missed something here, but I remain confused :-)

Yeah I thought it was what LexSport said but I am sure I have seen multiple flags from the same country in that list ...

any advances in this?

might just be me, but they only appeared midway through the season, and only come on the screen during the "build up" to the quali & race.

Would be interesting to know what they were, incase the beeb don't show them.

no no, it was the american flag......
although being sent to a comprehensive school, I am able to tell the difference :P

Definitely saw two american flags. However, I've since forgotten what numbers were listed alongside them.

Any takers on what these are?

it had the american flag in there, so it can't be that :-(
theirs neither a us circuit nor us driver in f1 (atm)

google is just taking a bit too long to narrow the search down, and remaining on tops

Malaysian flag is similar to the American flag, easy to confuse if the picture is very small?
