Hotel's In Coventry

Good evening all, I hope everyones' first day back at work was a good one!

Right, I am looking for a 1 night stay in coventry in the middle of the month. I am going to visit my better half (long distance atm I know!) and want somewhere we can both go back to after a nice evening out, as her parents probley will not be too happy with us making a racket at their house if you follow me.

I don't want to be spending a fortune on the one night there, as I doubt we will be too bothered if there is an axminster carpet or 9crt gold light fixings. Just a nice presentable room.

She lives in Coundon so does anybody have suggestions? I have looked on the internet but I think an opinion of someone thats stayed in one would give me more of an idea.

Ramada is pretty central, not spectacular but decent enough.

I've only stayed at one hotel in coventry, the royal court in kersley! Not a cheap place to stay, but nice nonetheless!

Avoid Britania Hotel like the plague.

Might be an idea to venture towards Leamington for a nicer hotel away from the city

Never ever, ever stay at a Ramada. The last two I've been to have been pigstys. I will not be going to one again.

I wouldn't go anywhere close to the ringroad, I am trying to think about coundon, I used to play rugby in coundon for God's sake, I should know one!

Cov Hills Hotel on the A45 and a basic drive into Coundon on Holyhead Road.

I stayed there on Sept 11th 01, was jittery driving down and couldn't really sleep because of the images I saw earlier that day before I left!

The hotel is good, I think we paid £45 for the night.

Ansty Hall - Nice rooms nice setting
Coombe Abbey - Best of the bunch but not cheap
Windmill Village - not been here for a while but always here good things about it
Ramada Hotel - never been but been refurbished in the last 6 months so should be ok

Most likely to be the best option everywhere else is overpriced, or too far after a night out.

Windmill Village is supposed to be excellent, as mentioned above. I've stayed here many times: http://www.brooklands-grange.co.uk/ Nice, smaller hotel with reasonable prices. It's just off the A45. The Britannia is a proper sthole. The Village has a decent pool and leisure stuff but it sounds like that's not going to be a deal breaker.

ETA "The Village" is not the same hotel as Windmill Village - see here: village-hotels.co.uk‎

When I left Cov in 2005 that was derelict/up for sale.

Unless the Cov Hills Hotel has had a huge wedge spent on it recently, then I wouldn't let my dog stay there. We used to use it as a crew hotel and most refused and walked out after taking one look at the rooms.

Wow fast replies. Some very nice places there, Coventry Hill Hotel looks about right for my one night stay, Id like to go more extravergent but current money situation I can't justify it. Thanks everyone

Look up laterooms or laterrooms on google and you should get a bargain somewhere.
