Hi guys,

Does anyone know why a hospital would CT Scan someone's Sinuses? My girlfriend is in hospital with Asthma problems and she's had a cold/blocked nose for a VERY long time, so they said they want to CT Scan her, would it be infection they'll be looking for? Am worried about her.

Thanks

I had a CT scan on my sinuses when I had acute sinusitis a few years ago- if there is any inflammation this'll show it up- it's a perfectly standard test and nothing to worry about

Also possibly looking for nasal polyps or the like which can exacerbate any ENT / chest / breathing condition. All normal stuff

They need to do a CT scan to check that there's nothing other than snot and puss in the sinuses. Once they've established that then they'll use pipe cleaners to remove the worst of the gunk, followed by a pressure wash.

Do NOT, I repeat do NOT stand downstream when they do the pressure wash. biggrin
