Thats it, my beloved Monaro has left my drive. Its been a fun packed year but she had to go (as its winter and we all need to look after our toys!)

4 months storage here we come

I hope mine won't dissolve if it sees any winter weather - the manual doesn't mention that it is unsuitable for bad weather use. Is there a service bulletin that I've missed?

I never knew they were that feeble and brittle.

Each to their own, but I can't see the point in having a car then putting it away for a third of the year. However the choice is yours.

Yr all missing the point... TOYS they should be looked after and not abused by gritters etc. Mine wont come off the road either before I get flack but it will reside in my garage the majority of the time during the winter! (with the heater on as well I add)

I don't get the "put it away for winter either". In some ways the car is more fun on the slippery wet roads than in the hot dry summer. Just make sure you squirt the thing on Saturday with water underneath, get some under seal and job done.

If the car was a Maserati Birdcage I could kind of see why you would want to put it away, but it is a Monaro FFS.

It does rain here you know, pissing down today and it's sposed to be Spring FFS!

Could probably get away with running slicks on the car for the next 4 or 5 months though

has anyone seen the rot on some of the earlier hsv's? As an old Capri owner I aint risking it and no Timothy one is not scared of the RWD I just want to keep this car nice and clean plus it aint a daily driver so whats the point of letting it sit, freeze, rot?

You might be a bit late for this year, you don't want to seal in the damp? Best speak to Mark or Roger quick.

Theoretically yes, but which will no doubt be void if all the annual inspection stamps from a main dealer aren't present in the service book, and how many owners are still entrusting their cars to main dealers?

Mine is getting treated to several gallons of Waxoyl & Dinitrol on Saturday week, and I am still going to store it for a couple of months while the weather is (hopefully) at its' worst.

I'm having to have the inside waterproofed as so much water still gets into it got a special price on waxoyl inside and out!

only ongoing problem is trying to avoid the splashing water in the footwell if I have to break hard

and this is true I have had to use an icescraper on the INSIDE of the car due to the amount of moisture

Mines already away for the winter..ish. It's not taxed and isn't moving but it's not really because I want it away, it's more that I have other priorities and since she's due an MOT in Jan and needs tyres I might as well do the lot at once. I'm pretty much away until then anyway.

However, it's a toy - and Monaros are pretty rare so I can really understand the want to keep 'em nice!

its as valuable as a terrace in toxteth, make the most of it, get your monies worth, I know I will, mine is a daily driver.......

I still maintain that Chequered Tape is the tuning mod to go for, can also cover up yards of rust spots. When are STP stickers going to be available again ???
