Hand brake

Search function under maintenance so not been able to see if posted before also had a look at varley VHD site which I must say is an excellant resource well done that man

over the last week or so my handbarke release button has started to stick meaning I cannot apply the handbrake

This has usually sorted itself out when i have come to park with a few healthy attempts at applying the handbrake but this morning it has decided to give up the ghost

sat in the car park at the moment in gear with no handbrake

does anybody have any ideas? is it an easy fix or take to the dealers not much good with a spanner but would rather fix myself if straight forward

Don't know how to fix it exactly, but mine does the same. I just give it a little wiggle left and right and it pops out.

The one in my tuscan used to be the same.

The button unscrews but be careful not to lose the spring. IIRC I cleaned out the tube with a bit of WD40 and put it back together...never had a problem again

If Toobin's WD40 option doesn't work, I had same issue recently that WD40 (or 3-in-1 oil - lubricates for much longer) didn't solve.

Lifted the centre console and saw that the latch, at front of the handbrake that engages with the ratchet teeth, was misaligned to one side so was only just catching in position occasionally. An easy fix - just hammered latch a few times, not too hard, from one side and it bent a few mm back into position. Then added a little grease to the teeth of the ratchet for good measure and is now fine again.

took a little bit work think in manouvering the cover it must have slotted back in will see how I go
