A New 400 SE Owner!
Discussion
Well it eventually happened. After a lot of searching I eventually found the right car for me. Some of you will remember that I had been talking about an 81,000 mile car up in Scotland that I was aware of and it turned out to be a honest and well cared for example with bodywork and chassis in excellent condition with a full service and bills history. I could resist no longer and a deal was done!
We picked the car up from the Edinburgh area but then headed North up to Arbroath so that my partner could spend a few days visiting long lost relatives. The weather was good so plenty of hood down motoring and a good time were had by one and all before we turned south and the long drive back to Cambridgeshire. The car didn't miss a beat during the whole trip that included winding open roads, motorways as well as some messing about in the cities especially Dundee where we made a stop on the way back to visit one last relative at work. The car, our new 'baby', is now cosily tucked up under its own cover in my garage. The only downside to the extended road trip were the shear number of gritting trucks out and about on the roads during the early evening on the drive home that proved impossible to avoid so now I have a couple of chips that need attention!!!! Not the cars fault though!!!!
I fear I have already begun to develop that TVR grin and have to admit to oddly developing an almost addictive interest in the weather forecast!!!
I expect that I will be bothering the hell out of you far more experienced guys (and gals!!) as my ownership of this wonderful car progresses!!!
As you can probably tell I am one happy bunny at the moment!

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I have a bunch of pictures that were sent to me by the original owner. These clearly belong to him but I'll ask if I can post them otherwise it will be beyond the weekend before I can post any on here.
By the way Richard it may be the same car that you refer to as this one is indeed a dark grey colour.
I'll post some pics one way or the other as soon as possible as I just know I'm going to be one of those 'Proud' owners happy to bore anyone senseless with photos at every opportunity!

There is an easy way to tell if it is the same car
Has it got a wooden surround around the gearlever and handbrake area
The one I was interested in had this unique feature
which I loved so much that when I had my dashboard re-veneered I got one too
Hope you can understand what I mean

That does look good except for the screws on the corners - shame the fastenings couldn't be hidden.
Also I'd be afraid of scratching it every time I changed gear! I bet you have to be careful what jacket you're wearing.

Luvverly motor Richard !
Welcome to the warped world of Wedge ownership.
.
dammit...another one that makes mine look like a skip

Thats the one
I would probably have bought it except I managed to get mine at a very good price
I have since had to add a rear spoiler and have the veneer done
but still I'm sure works out a bit cheaper than what he was asking
So Lovely car Richard - it just needs driving now
Have fun
Cheers
Richard
PS If anyone interested in the centre console wooden bit (to cover the awful plastic ashtray)
I can recommend Chapman & Clift who did mine and now have a template saved
Adam - mine has screw covers and caps which looks a bit better as well

Right, they can do mine then...only done a couple of years ago, but rubbish.
How long did they have your car for Richard ?
New carpets this winter too.
I've been too busy driving it to bother with these minor details.
MOT tomorrow morning.
Hi GrahamHow long did they have your car for Richard ?

MOT tomorrow morning.

You take the old ones off and send them to them in Cheshire
They said they would be 3 weeks but did take 5 weeks as it was their busiest time towards spring
As they are only covers you can still use your car in the meantime
Give me a shout and I will tell you how to take the parts off
because it is easy when you know how - but a pain if you don't
Mine just sailed thru the MOT with nothing to do last Friday (before the Goth run)
Cheers
Richard
