Elise S - Engine light
Discussion
I've a 1 year old Elise S and the engine light come on intermittently at start up. The car will run rough and I may have to switch it off and restart it. It then runs OK but the light stays on for the duration of the next run or 2. This always happens when the car is warm, after shortish stops.
The dealer has seen it but can't find anything wrong. It will have to go back but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, to point them in the right direction.

Mine had an erratic idle once or twice. the dealer flashed the ECU and it was fine. did they read the code for you efore resetting .. if you can find what it was that tripped it might shed some light on the matter
which dealer did you go to btw? some are better than others imho

The ex Lotus, new Ferrari / Massa dealership in the West Midlands.....
It had only done it once before when they looked at it, so not much to go on. The trouble is it's a fair drive to get over there so I don't want to do it more than once if poss.
I bought a OBD Scanner/reader and can see the fault codes that cause a MIL to illuminate saves on trips to dealers and you can google them or put them up on SELOC to find out what caused them and/or what to do about them.1 year old and you are still under waranty so arrange to pop it into a Lotus dealer and for them to look at it for you is the ex Lotus dealer still Lotus for servicing? they may not have the updated Software etc. etc. etc.It had only done it once before when they looked at it, so not much to go on. This might be a bit late but....
Mine had the same issue. Sometimes would sit at 2K and soon as you'd apply throttle it wanted to die. It's an ECU re-flash apparently. Had mine trailered to merrits in Leicester. 20 minutes later and a re-flash on the ECU and it was fine. Something to do with the FBW motor and software controlling it.
All works fine now.
