M- Rear hub nut?
Discussion
I noticed whilst assembling my rear drums that the central hub nut in the middle of the hub is missing on the nearside...
Its rather odd though, the offside one has a much larger thread on it...
What size should the hub nut be?... Rimmer-Bros catalogue suggests its a 5/8"UNF, but I bought said nut from my local nut man....and it doesnt fit..
It winds on 3-4 threads and then gets stuck...I dont want to crank it round too hard...incase I bugger up the axle...
I have inspected the thread on the axle and I cant see any damage...the threads all appear clear etc..
Anyone have any suggesions?

tegwin,
the threads may have been buggered on removal of the nut, or rusted, or whatever...
See about getting a 5/8" UNF thread dye and chasing the thread.
Just in case, get a (good condition) 5/8" UNF bolt and put it thread to thread with the threaded part of the stub axle. You will be able to see if all the peaks and valleys match up.
Good luck,
