just a query really, have changed the pump on my washing machine as it packed up and all is fine but noticed new one had a higher watts rating, should i be concerned about this? many thanks

Slightly more powerful motor - nowt to worry about (unless the programmer isn't capable of switching the higher current). frown

so if the programmer couldnt switch the power what would happen out of interest? thanks

It'll be fine. Don't worry about it.

The old motor could not have protected your controller, any more then the new one will. All that's happened is that the potential point of failure has moved a bit further up the chain. Since the pump died last time, you'll probably just find that it was previously a weak point and won't die again.
