Throttle cable slack
Discussion
While I'm trying to figure out my low idle/cold problem, I noticed there is about half inch or so play in the accel pedal before the cable "grabs". You can see the cables slack "bowed" over the half-wheel before any pedal travel.
Is this the normal amount of slack? Throttle response seems kinda slower with it like this, and I'm not sure I'm getting WOT.

Mine (89) had the same thing. The adjuster was all the way out and apparently the PO or some shop had Aggie-rigged it with some glue somewhere. Comeing home from work one day the cable got all kinds of even more slack and then the end came off the pedal. I managed to assume the Lotus position on the side of the road and replace the end in the pedal, but every time I let off the pedal the end came out. A little bit of wire twisted in kept it together until I got home. I cut the cnd off, pulled that cable out and replaced it with a piece of 3/16" (if I recall) stainless wire cable with ends I made on my lathe. Rated work load on the new cable is over 400 lbs, so I think it shoud be strong enough.
Also, with that much slack, I was not getting WOT.
